What we do
A community exploring recovery and spirituality with people of all faiths and none — connecting more deeply with our feelings, with others in community, and with our Higher Power.
Our approach
Recovery Church creates inclusive spaces for people to explore spirituality and human flourishing, working with people in and seeking recovery from a range of addictions. It was set up during the Covid pandemic, by people in recovery for people in recovery, to provide support during lockdown — the original online community still meets for mutual support and connection.
Recovery Church empowers people to connect with feelings and emotions, with others in community, and with their Higher Power. It doesn't tell people what to believe, but helps individuals develop a spirituality rooted in healing and wholeness, through services, events, gender-specific groups, drop-ins, group work and spiritual retreats — all aimed at building hope, honesty, awareness, compassion, integrity, agency and resilience. Where trauma or adverse childhood experiences are getting in the way of recovery, Recovery Church can provide access to trauma-informed counselling and coaching.
Values: safeguarding spaces; led by people in recovery; inclusive and LGBTQi+ affirming; trauma-informed; neurodivergent-aware; for all faiths and none; gender-specific work; person-centred and strength-based; peer and shared leadership; partnering with the wider recovery community.
Who we support
People in early recovery, people in long-term recovery, women specifically, professionals/sector workers, people who have experienced significant trauma, and neurodivergent people.
Areas of support
Mental health support, peer support & community groups, faith-based support, creative & arts.

Newcastle city centre and on Zoom.
