What we do
The Public Health Team's aim is to make Newcastle a fairer and healthier city where people can live well at every stage of life — enabling residents to live longer, healthier, and happier lives. This includes commissioning drug and alcohol services, drug/alcohol and stigma training, and related projects on ethnic minorities, homelessness, veterans, and the most disadvantaged groups in the city.
(Newcastle City Council as a whole runs many services beyond this — public health, waste collection, council tax, parking, social care, housing, libraries, leisure — but the Public Health Team's work is what's relevant to Revival's partners.)
Who they support
People in active addiction, people in early recovery, people in long-term recovery, families and friends, young people, women specifically, cultural/demographic-specific groups, people with disabilities, professionals/sector workers, the wider community.
Areas of support
Drug & alcohol treatment, mental health support, housing & homelessness, employment & training, family support, peer support & community groups, faith-based support, physical health, education, creative & arts.
Where they operate
Across Newcastle.
How to access support
It depends — NCC commissions services that offer referrals, but doesn't offer direct referrals itself. Queries to publichealthadmin@newcastle.gov.uk.
